Let’s talk numbers. Of cushions that is. We do a lot of cushion-counting. People often equate a cushion with a seat. One cushion one spot for a bum. Not anymore!
We are noticing a trend toward the bench cushion, one long cushion that extends from one arm of the sofa to another. It is clean, crisp and comfy!
The Drake by King Hickory shown to the left with a Bench Seat, is also available as a standard 3 seat or 2 seat sofa; however, we are finding the Bench Seat is trending!
See the same frame three ways:
Three cushions is more ‘standard,’ two a comfy look but we are just loving the bench!
The Bench Seat look is popular with more modular seating designs. The Chill collection by Younger Furniture has just arrived in our showroom and we LOVE it! Shown below with two arm-less sofas, the Chill has deep down cushions piled with pillows for a casual clean look and ample seating.
Where the Chill is a more modern frame, the Georgia Rain shown below, is a wood based frame with a cutout fretwork design- a warm, rustic take on the Bench Seat.
Or go slip-covered!
The Lindsey is a classic look with easy to clean slip covers for a causal, cottage style. The Bench Seat keeps it up-to-date!
For the best way to bring a bench seat into your home- let us find the frame for you!
Trisha Yearwood’s Home Collection by Klaussner has just arrived and we are loving it!! Her collection combines classic charm with contemporary flare.

Green in all it’s glory is 2017’s Pantone Color of the Year! Greenery is, as Pantone puts it: “Nature’s Neutral” and a way to reconnect with nature. We are loving Greenery and all the green tones this season: these are some of our favorites!
Rachael Ray’s new collection from Craftmaster uses a bold lime green print to add a punch to this group on a clean lined wing chair and echoed in throw pillows this line up uses the color of the year for a zesty pop!
Throw Pillows are a great way to be on trend but not completely overhaul the room. Use a neutral white back drop and incorporate your favorite hue to add green in your own way!
Take on Greenery’s dramatic cousin Emerald! A high wing chair with in Emerald Velvet with pillows to match take this classic room into 2017!
Or if you want to take on Green for years to come, go big and take on the whole sofa! This Flexsteel sofa to the left, in a muted green tackles the 2017 color of the year and accents with throw pillows and pops of green in wall art tie the whole look together. Or tackle the walls! Bold green with crisp white trim like the room below is the look for 2017!!
Our favorite way to go Green in 2017 is of course with nature it’s self! Florals and plants add a burst of freshness to any space. Ring in this years color of the year, Greenery- nature’s neutral- with nature itself!
Happy New Year!

We love ottomans! But not all ottomans are created equal… and not all rooms need the same ottoman. Don’t fret! There are so many options available pick your size, shape, fabrics and leathers, storage and more- it’s impossible to not find just the right fit for your space. Here are some tips to help narrow down the field to find exactly what you are looking for!
Size and Shape
Sizing of ottomans is directly correlated to the size of the related pieces in the room. If it is going in front of a chair it needs to fit the chair, a sofa it needs to be a cocktail ottoman, in a sectional…well there are so many different configurations out there there’s no one size fits all rule- just be proportionate.
This sectional to the right is large but doesn’t have a huge amount of space between the chaise and the sofa, this square fits perfectly.
Fabrics and Leather
An ottoman is a great opportunity for an accent fabric to tie the whole room together. Coordinate or match fabrics to accent pillows on the sofa or chair for a polished look! It’s tempting to always go fabric on an ottoman-to add a punch of pattern-but don’t overlook leather.
Leather on an ottoman is a great way to add texture and break up an all upholstered room. Leather is also super durable and easy to clean-a great material for an ottoman that will double as a coffee table. The Metal Works collection by Legacy Furniture shown above has a leather topped ottoman with a removal train inset, perfect for the ottoman/coffee table combo! Another great combo is to go with leather/fabric collaged ottoman.
The storage ottoman to the right by King Hickory is a great way to add a dash of leather, just on the base and contrast with a fun fabric or you can do it in reverse!
Storage and Cubes
Ottoman cubes are so fun and versatile! They can float around the room as needed or be bunched together in front of a sofa or sectional. In great fabrics and leathers these cubes are always a hit!
Need to maximize storage? Ottomans have you covered. The above storage ottoman by Bassett Furniture is clean, crisp and chic. Available in multiples sizes and fabrics storage can find it’s way into any room!

Pillows: Adding a fur pillow to your bedding, reading chair or sectional elevates the look by adding texture and softness. You’ll never want to get up!

Furniture: Fur is even making its way onto furniture! You can add an ottoman or a chair to a room for a big impact.
We are stocking more fur accents these days and are excited to show you more options… so come in to see more fur-bulous items.
